How To Wire The Kits
We've discussed the four types of RJ-45 adaptor kits to work with: Male and female versions of DB-9 and DB-25 adaptors. Each unassembled adaptor kit has series of 8 pins that you push into a male or female frame. Each pin wire has a color associated with it, and every frame has very small markings indicating a position number. The color schemes are universal, so the wiring pin-outs below will be applicable to just about any kit, no matter who makes them.
Make sure the kits you order are:
Take care to make sure you've got the right wire in the right slot, as once you slide the pin in, you cannot remove it without breaking the pin. If you miss-wire something, you might as well throw it away. It's a good idea to always have more than you need, in case you make such a mistake.

There are two main components, the main body and the interface faceplate shown in Picture 2:

On the back of the faceplate, you'll see very small numbers over each pin slot. These are the numbers that will correspond to the various colors.

Use the wiring diagrams to plug the various colors into the appropriate slots to get the appropriate adapter configuration.

When the wiring is complete, the faceplate snaps onto the adapter, and you have a completed adapter.

I highly recommend labeling the adapter with either a marker or a labeler, so to avoid confusion as to how the type of adapter is wired. This adapter was wired straight through, so I put an "S" label on it.
