NYC Marathon

2005-06-19 17:51:07

D'oh. For the second year in a row, I didn't win the random lottery which determines who gets to run the NYC marathon. They have a lottery because there are far more people who wish to run than they have slots for. Around 70,000 enter, with only 30,000 slots (10,000 international, 20,000 domestic). I got in the first time I tried, in 2002, but demand was lighter since it was barely a year after 9/11.

Oh well. I'll try again next year. In the meantime, there's a marathon in Dublin at around the same time (late October, NYC is early November), and then there's The Great Wall of China Marathon. I just missed this years (I learned about it from a news story on CNN), but I'm going to go for it next year. That would be fantastic.
