    I have a costumer with one ALO and one of the ISP had internal routing/vlans
    problems and that affected

    the out/in traffic of my customer. I think this happens because my customer
    public IP address and routing

    of that address depends of that ISP.

    If I had two routers running BGP and one autonomous system number this could
    not happened ?

    Hi Vitor,

     

    Briefly, many of the link load balancers, Alteon ALO included, are designed
    to

    remove the need to run BGP. It's still true to say that in many enterprises
    the

    overheads of understanding and managing BGP are prohibitive (which I realise
    is

    a very sujective opinion...).

     

    They also allow you _very_ granular control over how the links are used
    (i.e. FTP

    and Mail through one, HTTP through another etc...) This is no more complex
    than

    configuring some traffic filters on the switch to send the traffic either
    way. The ALO

    also offers support for things like bandwidth management, IDS load balancing
    and

    some other additional features.
