I have defined a new URL and set up URL Load balancing using method 1) below such that all request to WWW.Y.COM only goes to S1.
This did not work which makes me think the Alteon can only matches "sub-string" in a URL but I am not 100% sure and was hoping somebody
can clarify it for me.

Answer is it depends on what the desired outcom is. These decisions are usually
driven by marketing rather than technology. From a config and operation point of
view they're very similar. It really depends on whether the new web site entity needs
its own identity or is happy to be seen as a sub site of www.x.com.
Hope this helps

We have a web site for discussion purposes at WWW.X.COM load balance across 2 servers S1 and S2 - these have been working OK.
We need to set up (on top of what we already have) so that one particular URL only goes to S1.
My question is how to define this new URL, do I
1) Add another URL called say WWW.Y.COM pointing to the same VIP as WWW.X.COM and set up the Alteon so that request to WWW.Y.COM only goes to S1 or
2) The new URL have to be a substring of WWW.X.COM such as WWW.X.COM/NEWURL and set up the Alteon so that request starting with /NEWURL only goes
