Hi Peter, I've configure 2 identical VIP one with UDP enabled and the other
UDP dis. I did an automated UDP dig and got good and consistent response.
For TCP dig, I encountered some a success pattern that looks like: (where .
is successful, * is a failure - no reply within 5 secs)

..........*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.**..........................
...................................................................

Just to check, is there any special settings to look out for when handling
TCP request? (dbind is disabled) The current sessions count does'nt gets
more than 500.

I do a dig inside both servers without any issue.

You have two options, enable DAM, or if you want UDP stateless, give your
servers secondary IPs and configure those IPs as new real servers for your
second service.

Subject: [load balancing] 2 different virtual IP map to same group of
servers

Hi,

I'm trying to setup 2 virtual IP (in different subnet) such that they both
map to group 1 (a pool of DNS servers). These virtual IPs are meant for the
same service, but unfortunately, Alteon AD3 does not allow this type of
configurations:

Error: Virtual servers 1 and 2 that include the same real server 1
cannot map the same real port or balance UDP.
Error: Virtual servers 1 and 2 that include the same real server 2
cannot map the same real port or balance UDP.
Error: Apply not done. Use "diff" to see pending changes,
then use configuration menus to correct errors.

Is there anyway to achieve this, because I have several lagacy DNS IP
address which I want the AD3 to take over and load-balanced across a group
of DNS servers.

I could probably create interfaces that holds these legacy IP and use
filters to redirect to group 1, but is there a drawback to this setup? It
seems that virtual servers have more features under them, e.g. ability to
have udp stateless...

Thanks.

Rgds,
Hwee Khoon
