With Hash and minmiss the real server selection is done on the client IP.
The CIP is replaced with the PIP at the last moment before the frame leaves
    the switch.

Subject: [load balancing] Alteon PIP & Persistance question

    Hi

    Question to Alteon Hackers:

    SCENARIO:

Say that Proxy IP's are configured on a client Port.
If I need persistance for users who fill in forms etc...can I still use
HASH or MINMISSES metric? will it still work ?
Or will enabling PIP address on the client port mean that all requests
would got to the same server if HASH or MINMISSES metrics were chosen,
As the Real Server Index would be computed using the same PIP address for
all clients...is my thinking correct !?

If so the rule is you cant use PIP if you need persistance ?! unless using
    cookies ?

    Thanks in advance

    J
