    Hello All,

I am investigating a redundant load balancing solution for a DMZ. A large unix box sits behind the 2nd FW running J2EE apps (non-clustered, ONLY ONE), and currently there is a UNIX Apache server forwarding all J2EE traffic to the app server.

We would like to implement a redundant load balanced solution in the DMZ, redirecting all J2EE traffic to this J2EE app server. It is true that in the initial phase there is nothing to load balance, as all J2EE traffic is fowarded to one server, but in the future it is possible that we could add more app servers such as a test/staging server.

The traffic is SSL encrypted, so encryption/decryption would be perfromed in the DMZ.

We are looking at < 500K transactions a 12 hr day and < 1.5G of traffic a 12 hr day.

I know that this is a broad question, but I am wondering if this solution can be achieved using Open Source software like Eddie or VAnessa or Linux Virtual Server or others I am not aware of?

    OR

should I focus on a product solution like Cisco Local Director, F5 Big-IP 520, or Alteon or others I am not aware of?

Any advice or links or experience insight would be appreciated.

    Thanks, Bruni
